Y-Ben Hok

Pastor Y-Ben Hdok with this daughter

On April 28, 2008 Pastor Y-Ben Hdok was arrested by police in the Daklak province of Vietnam. After not coming home for lunch, his wife H-Riu Mlo went looking for him at the police station. At the police station the policemen had him in a headlock. In order for his wife not to see their abuse of her husband they kicked her and threw her out of the room. In spite of the fact that he had bruises and cuts all over his body the policemen claimed that he had committed suicide. His crime was that he was pasturing to 132 believers in his congregation of the Ede tribe.

He is survived by his wife and daughter.

Phil Masters

Phil Masters went with his wife to Irian Jaya of Indonesia in 1961 to evangelize to the Yali people. The Yali worshipped pagan spirits. Phil knew the dangers about preaching to the Yali. He was able to translate the bible into the Yali language.

Many Yali leaders and Kembu priests felt threatened by Phil and his coworker Stan because they preached against the evil spirits they worshipped. Phil saw how the Yali shoot several arrows at the body of Stan. Everytime they shot him he would stand up and break the arrows. After he collapsed they then turned their attention to Phil and he also suffered the same fate.
